Allison is an established authority on sustainable architecture in the Cincinnati community as well as the region. Through speaking engagements, teaching opportunities and interactions with clients, Allison has been able to pass her knowledge about the importance of sustainable design and how it can be utilized to a broad range of professional and community groups. Allison has served as a sustainability or LEED consultant for many companies such as Al. Neyer and CB Richard Ellis. Allison has also shown her leadership in sustainable design as a past board member of the Cincinnati US Green Building Council (USGBC) and a Director of the American Institute of Architect’s (AIA) Cincinnati.
Recently, Allison has helped develop and write content for a line of iPhone applications called EcoFlash. These applications are geared at helping individuals study for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) professional accreditation exams.
Allison has also won two design awards in sustainable design competitions in the past year, placing first and receiving best of show in AIA Ohio’s Affordable Green Housing Design competition and placing second in USGBC Cincinnati’s Natural Talent Design Competition which imagined a sustainable redesign of Cincinnati’s Drop Inn Center. As a result of the Affordable Green Housing competition, Allison and her colleague Jessica Farmer are working with Habitat for Humanity of Cincinnati to design a new, sustainable “green” house model. This new prototype will be constructed in Cincinnati this Spring and then the design will be made available to other Habitat for Humanity chapters across the state.
