As I posted in March (here), I am thrilled to be the architect for Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity’s new “Green Model”. This new home model strives to prove that sustainability and affordability are complementary, not conflicting concepts. Ground was broken for the home late last month and as of my site visit today, the foundations, basement walls and first floor framing are in place! To document the build, Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity is keeping a blog at http://cincinnati-habitat.org/greenbuildingblog/. This blog will track the ongoing construction of the house while also giving insight in the sustainable strategies that are being employed in the house and the process of striving for certification using the National Green Building Standard. I can’t wait to see how the finished home turns out and to meet the homeowner and her family!
