Pleasant Ridge Montessori, the first LEED Certified public K-12 school in the State of Ohio was honored as a finalist in the first Cincinnati Business Courier Green Business Awards Program. Often referred to as the impetus for the Ohio School Facilities Commission to launch a campaign of LEED Certified Schools (all publicly funded school projects in Ohio must now achieve LEED Silver or better), Pleasant Ridge Montessori has also been a catalyst for growth; the school has doubled in enrollment since their new building was built and the surrounding community is seeing increased property values at a time when 61% of the properties in the city have declined in value. In my opinion, this is a project that really shows my firm’s ability to spur a community and positively impact other communities throughout the state through our leadership on a design philosophy (sustainable design) that really matters to us.
